A collaborative sound project that combines live poetry readings, Outsider Art and location soundscape recordings.

"I'm Not Jesus" is an incarcerated inmate's anthem to freedom via darkness. In this work, poet Peter (Pancake) has chosen to embrace the sinister elements of his prison sentence experience by transforming himself into an imaginary romantic demon that chooses to love his abusers rather than become broken by them.

"I’m Not Jesus" is a single from a full length collaborative musical poetry story between Peter and Joey that is being created entirely by the sharing of ideas conducted over telephone correspondences.

This work poses a criticism towards the prison system enterprise and how budget cuts to rehabilitation programming effects the power of healing via creative expression. The real devil is the system that is designed to punish and penalize rather than restore a person's potential.
